Recipe of the Week: Spiced Shrimp with Avocado Oil

Cooking is a true passion of ours. Whether it’s making our favorite dishes or trying new recipes, we could stay in the kitchen all day. This week, we were craving seafood and decided to try this Spiced Shrimp with Avocado Oil recipe from using the fresh shrimp we bought at a local market. Finding a decent shrimp recipe is a rarity, so we were extremely pleased when the shrimp turned out delicious! Using AVOCARE’s Extra Virgin Garlic Avocado Oil in place of regular avocado oil enhanced the flavor in a big way. With a hint of roasted garlic, our oil added in a kick that can’t be beat. Try it out for dinner this week!


1 1/2 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1 tablespoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon ground coriander

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1 1/2 tablespoons AVOCARE Extra Virgin Garlic Avocado Oil, divided

Lime wedges


Sprinkle shrimp with sugar and salt. Combine chili powder, cumin, coriander, and oregano. Lightly coat shrimp with spice mixture. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 teaspoon of oil and half of shrimp; sauté for 4 minutes or until done. Remove from pan. Repeat procedure with 1 teaspoon of oil and remaining shrimp. Place shrimp on a platter; drizzle remaining 2 1/2 teaspoons oil over shrimp. Serve with lime wedges.

Using avocado oil will not only create a delicious and juicy turkey, but will also leave you feeling light so you can enjoy that delicious pecan pie without feel guilty. You can even deep-fry your turkey in avocado oil!

AVO Veggies

Will you be cooking carrots, Brussels sprouts or any other vegetable side dishes this Thanksgiving? Choosing to toss your vegetables in avocado oil will taste better than using olive or canola oil. One of the best things about scrambled eggs is their simplicity. Within 10 minutes of preparing, you have a fulfilling and healthy breakfast supplement to jumpstart the rest your day. Shake up your routine by throwing an avocado into the mix.
